Wailea Beach Walk

My friend Patty took me on the Wailea Beach Walk this morning. I've been wanting to do this for the past two years since we moved here, but it's hard to convince the kids to walk along the beach rather than play in the sand or the water... Today was the day! Armed with a camera, sunglasses and a water bottle, I was set!

We parked at the Kihei end of Keawakapu beach (there is a gravel public parking lot next to the Kihei Surfside and Mana Kai) and walked the half mile beach towards Wailea. What a gorgeous beach - not very busy this morning, with mansions half hidden from view. Then we crossed onto Ulua Beach which I have never been to (it has awesome snorkeling for kids and is usually protected from the wind in the afternoons), at the end of Ulua Beach there is a paved walk way that you can take all the way to Polo Beach (past the Fairmont).

The walk took us about an hour each way. Other vital statistics - there are three public washrooms (one at Ulua Beach, one on the Kihei-side of the Marriott, and one right after the Fairmont by Polo Beach). A few of the hotels also have little coffee/refreshment stands right next to the walkway. You walk on the beach for a while, followed by a paved walk. I wore slippahs (flipflops) that I kicked off on the beach. Wear sun screen and bring sunglasses!

It sure was beautiful! Thanks Patty!
