After talking about it and a false start in May, the Shops at Wailea will be charging for parking starting October 1st.
However, MauiWatch is reporting that there are a few changes from the initial announcement. Purchase something worth $25 or more at any of the stores, and that will get you a two hour parking validation. Additionally, the first hour of parking is free (if you run in and out). Parking is $3/half hour up to a maximum of $40/day.
There are 5 pay stations within the Shops at Wailea. Once you have paid there is (supposedly) a 20 minute grace period to get to your car and leave.
