Yes, you will on occasion see people riding in the back of a pick-up on Maui. Is it legal? Welllll..... technically yes, but as I'm told, the rule is that all seats in the truck cab have to be occupied (by humans), and then you can sit on the truck bed (not on a chair/bench), holding on, and only if you are over the age of 13 (I think that's the age limit). Would I do it? Nope.
Look what I saw yesterday driving down the Piilani Hwy in Kihei.
