Have you checked out La Perouse Bay, the old lava flow south of Makena? Do go check it out! We drove down today (it will take you about half hour from South Kihei, just head south through Wailea, stay on that road and don't stop til you get to the very end of the road)! We saw spinner dolphins in the water! So cool! There were a number of people snorkeling right around where the spinner dolphins were, that would be neat to experience!
Sorry - no pics of spinner dolphins, but here are two shots from La Perouse for you...

La Perouse is the most recent lava flow on Maui. It is estimated to have occurred around 500-600 years ago.
